Brookfield Historical Society Annual Meeting

Cranky Yankees:  All Together, Now! and Potluck Supper

The Brookfield Historical Society is holding its annual meeting on Sunday, October 18th, at the Pond Village Church in Brookfield starting at 4:00 p.m.

Jim Cooke will be presenting his much acclaimed “Cranky Yankee” presentation and you are all invited.  He is known for Calvin Coolidge: More Than Two Words—a one-man show that has changed popular perceptions and challenged scholarly misperceptions of Vermont’s only elected president.  Jim has created other one man performances based mainly on New England characters.  “Cranky Yankees: All Together, Now” is a chance to see Calvin Coolidge, Daniel Webster, and John Quincy Adams joined by Ethan Allen, James Whitcomb Riley, Samuel Sewall, Harriet Beecher Stowe and Joseph P. Kennedy, to name but a few.  While not exactly a “How to…”, this lecture/performance features Jim’s.  The program is sponsored by the Vermont Humanities Council (VHC) Speakers Bureau and the Brookfield Historical.  It is free, open to the public, and accessible to people with disabilities.

The potluck supper is free and open to all as well, but donations will be accepted and tickets distributed at the door to donors. After the presentation, there will be a drawing to raffle off door prizes, which will include an original Thomas Clifford painting, maple syrup, and historical photographs and calendars.  We hope to see you there.
