2013 Brookfield Ice Harvest and Winter Carnival

Saturday, January 26th, 10:30 a.m.

Now in its 34th year, the Brookfield Ice Harvest will be held on Sunset Lake in picturesque Pond Village in Brookfield on Saturday, January 26th at 10:30 a.m.  The morning will begin with a discussion of the history of ice harvesting in New England, an ice-cutting demonstration, followed by a competition for young and old to see who can harvest a block of ice the fastest.

Winter carnival activities will begin after the ice harvest, which will include a tug-of-war on the ice, a snowshoe race on the pond, and a timed ice-sled obstacle course for the kids.  Skating and x-c skiing will also be available, conditions permitting. The Brookfield Ice Harvest and Winter Carnival is a FREE event for the whole family.  Food and drink will be sold by the Brookfield School Club to support enrichment programs at the school.  Be sure to dress warmly!

  1. Are you going to update your event ? I wanted to print out a handout of this event for our Model A Ford car club, but there is nothing available, and no text that is current.

    • Sorry for the delay, but we just got an update this week. The 2014 date and time is now posted.
